HE WILL NEVER BE MY GOD!

HE WILL NEVER BE MY GOD!

I was driving down the road the other day and noticed a bumper sticker that was very interesting. It was a comment about the upcoming presidential election. I’ve edited it by removing the name of the person mentioned on the bumper sticker. It stated;

                                will never be my president.

As I thought about that statement I began to ponder the ramifications and meanings of such a public comment. Apparently the person who owned the car had no respect or regard for the person running for president. Whether or not you and I agree with this type of statement, this person has the freedom to make such a statement because we live in a free country where freedom of expression is a guaranteed right. If you want to lead your life rejecting the authority of the president, I guess that’s fine. But the problem is whether this person likes it or not, the man or woman who is elected president IS ultimately their president.

I understand the person will probably show no allegiance to whomever is elected and they will very likely not submit to their authority over them. They may speak ill of him or her as President and even seek to spread their disregard for them as a person. But no matter how much they rebel against the person who is President, they are still legally and technically their president.

I thought how similar this is to the response of many people towards God. They live their lives independent from God. They may deny His existence or they may deny His rule over their lives. Whatever the case; they show by their actions and decisions that God is not their God. Often they will use His name in vain or rebel against the laws and guidelines He has laid down. They may even shout,

“HE WILL NEVER EVER BE MY GOD!!!”

But while these individuals consider God of no importance in their lives and decisions they make, He is still the God who rules over them. He WILL have the last word. He IS active in their lives and HAS the POWER of life and death over them. God rules over the wicked and the righteous. No matter how much non-believers seek to reject God as their personal God, He is still the God who has authority over every aspect of their life. God works through individuals in the governments of every nation and in the smallest details of each person’s life. He is constantly working in our personal, national and world history events. In the end He WILL RECEIVE recognition for His rule.

In Isaiah 45:22-24 it states,

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. They will say of me, ‘In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.’ All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.”

It also states in Romans 14:11-12,

 “It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

Scripture also states the same concerning Jesus Christ, Savior of the world in Philippians 2:9-11 the following;

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

So we all must face the fact, both Christian and non-Christian, that God has authority over ALL of us. God is God to everyone. The difference is this;

Those of us who accept Jesus, as our Savior and Lord, are His redeemed children.

Those who reject Him as their Savior, Lord and God fall under His wrath and judgment.

How important it is for people who disown God to reconsider their commitment to rejecting Him.

How important it is for them to submit, be humble and seek the Lord.

How important it is for them to say with their own lips.

“I want Jesus to be my Savior, Lord and Master.

I want the Father, Son and Spirit to be my God.”
